Ganelle
Moultry-Leach has her PhD in the field of industrial and systems engineering
from Virginia Tech. She has worked as a
STEM employee/advocate in many different settings ranging from private industry,
academia to secondary education. This includes her work experience as an industrial engineer for Roadway
Package Systems; a production supervisor for Duracell Battery USA; and a Director
of Quality Programs for the College of Engineering, and Architecture at Howard University.
However, her most rewarding work experience and greatest passion has been to serve her community through providing STEM
education to African American students to continue to increase their
numbers in STEM professions. She has
done this as a college professor in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department
at North Carolina A&T State University and as a 9th-12th
grade technology and engineering educator at Charles H. Flowers High
School. Moreover, Dr. Moultry-Leach was founder and creator of a STEM education business called SCEL Success which provided
STEM, character enrichment, and leadership to children in grades 1-5 in education settings. Her present STEM education business is called STEM Empowers Futures. It introduces elementary students to what is STEM, the different
STEM fields and their associated professions.
While a
professor at North Carolina A&T University, Dr. Moultry-Leach was two-time
Professor of the Year and Outstanding Alumnus for the North Carolina A&T
Department of Industrial Engineering.
She also was named Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. She served as faculty advisor to the
freshman students in the Department and graduate students in the Management Systems Engineering
Program. Dr. Moultry-Leach also was the
faculty advisor to the student chapter of the Institute of Industrial
Engineers.
Dr.
Moultry-Leach is an experienced oral presenter. Her many presentations range from
motivational topics about her personal experiences as a woman and woman of color in the male dominated field of engineering to STEM related topics.
While at NC A&T State University, she created a new academic track and curricula in
the field of Management Systems Engineering. She also created
curricula for the technology and engineering courses she taught as a secondary education teacher and for her STEM education businesses.
Dr. Moultry-Leach
believes in giving back to her community.
Over the decades she has volunteered in numerous community and church
organizations. She
is married with two young adult children and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Prince Georges County, MD.
